The artists have taken over the Village du Soir!
After the success of the first 2 editions, the Village Art Festival once again took over the Village du Soir for the entire month of June. On the program: an open-air exhibition of different works by contemporary artists from various backgrounds. During this 3rd edition, Marine du Sordet, photographer, and Marie de Buttet, painter, were among the artists presenting their works to a large audience. They share with us their feelings about this important event for them, and for their artistic work.

With her project "Hors Saison", Marine du Sordet questions our way of traveling. Through her photographs taken in Greece, between the very trendy island of Santorini and the more confidential island of Milos, the artist captures incongruous, surprising, even shocking moments of life of a tourism that has become "instagrammable".
Her photos exhibited at the Village Art Fest in June, taken for the first time in color, bear witness to this duality between the journey focused on appreciating others, and the "real" one, which we experience for ourselves. This is the third time that Marine du Sordet has exhibited her work at the Village. "I like the energy that exists at the Village du Soir, this atypical place, and I also like the way the Village team (and especially Corinne, the Marketing Director) looks at my work.
It's energizing, it's a very important boost for an artist." Showing your work here is a unique opportunity to "reach other audiences, people who would probably never have seen my photos outside of this festival." And to conclude, with contagious enthusiasm: "I'm very proud to have participated again this year!"
It is in another register, that of painting, that Marie de Buttet excels. For her 2nd time at the Village Art Fest, she chose to exhibit two different types of works: large-format acrylic paintings on canvas, and a spray work on paper in a smaller format. The theme is identical: women, independent and uninhibited. Women that visitors to the Village Art Fest were able to discover sometimes as "Palomas" on the large formats - linked to motherhood and divinity -, sometimes as Queens - three in number - on the spray work. For her, participating in the Village Art Fest means "being part of something multidisciplinary, via a real dynamism that the Village du Soir has managed to produce around art". It is also a way of making her work known to other audiences, particularly Swiss, and of breaking down barriers to her art. And if this Festival works so well, it is "because the Village du Soir is ultra-lively, that it already has in its DNA a real artistic direction that we find in incredible scenarios throughout the year. Here, the artistic side is immersive, total, and done down to the smallest details" she concludes. The Village Art Fest was held at the Village du Soir between June 6 and 29. Visitors were able to discover the works of: Exit Void, Marine du Sordet, Marie de Buttet, Ratdo, Coco, Graffeurs.ch , Digital Graffiti and Peckos. A friendly event open to all audiences, which each year offers the opportunity to discover the Village under a different face!
